Flamborough Head

When a band is thirty years old, you can almost assume that being a prog musician is a fun hobby. And that is true; yes, it is a hobby (most prog musicians cannot make a living from it) and it is fun. But why? Why is it fun? The creative process remains special. From attic room experiments on the piano to the rehearsal room playing with a complete band and then to the studio remains interesting to do. This has led to seven studio CDs, a demo, two live CDs and a ‘rarities’ album (and all this apart from the incidental contributions that Flamborough Head has made for all kinds of compilation CDs). Making and releasing all these CDs is a pleasant activity and makes it fun to be part of a band like Flamborough Head. Performing all our music live is challenging, exciting but also rewarding. You meet all kinds of new nice people and you get to go places. Flamborough Head has had the privilege of performing in the Netherlands, Belgium, England, Germany, France, Italy, Hungary, Romania, Poland, Norway and Mexico. At interesting festivals (including our own ProgFarm festival), beautiful locations and with other great prog bands. Being part of a band is also about loyalty, patience, friendship, fun and laughter. And of course…..the long journeys to gigs, hours in a van, traffic jams, delays, tiredness and endless waiting between a far too short soundcheck and the gig – it was all worth it. The reality is that we are halfway through our career, we are still very promising!
